Josh Alexander
Product specialist, operator and founder based in Sydney. I've built a pet care marketplace, launched two consumer pet brands, and now manage Group Life experiences at TAL Insurance.
I care about making things that work well and feel right to use.
Now
I'm currently Digital Product Manager for Group Life at TAL Insurance, helping our partners and their members navigate underwriting and claims. Previously, I worked in the Digital Growth team as a Product Associate. Today, my work centers on making a complex industry and its products feel a little more accessible.
Before that I co-founded Dogg — a marketplace for pet care that grew to 11,000+ users across Australia — and The Online Pet Company, where I built two brands (Pawtion Pet Treats and Slobber Pet Toys) to over 20,000 customers and their fur-babies.
Outside that I work on Furball — a profit-for-purpose cat litter company, with the goal of ending animal homelessness in Australia & spare.coffee — a digital playground for side projects, causes and things I'm curious about.
Work

Advising on product development, strategy, and growth for a hospitality costing platform that helps multi-venue teams build, cost, and optimise kitchen operations.
Pawtion Pet Treats and Slobber Pet Toys. Grew to $75k/month, 10,000 customers, 42% returning customer rate. Led a team of nine across manufacturing, DTC, markets, and wholesale.
Pet care marketplace. Raised pre-seed, built a hybrid mobile app, grew to 20,000+ users across all Australian capital cities. Led seven people. Pivoted post-COVID to web-first — increased conversions 22%.

Building
A profit-for-purpose cat litter brand, supporting Aussie animal welfare/charites with the goal of putting an end to Animal homelessness
Premium pet treats made with ingredient transparency as the core brand value. Formulated, manufactured, and sold DTC and through wholesale and community markets.
A companion brand to Pawtion — durable pet toys built for the gap between cheap and over-engineered. Ran it alongside Pawtion under The Online Pet Company.
My personal playground. A place to build side projects and explore ideas for no reason other than curiosity.
